Safety
To start I want to point out slingshots can be dangerious and in some cases deadly! They may be fun and seem like a toy but you could easly blind someone for life and a properly placed shot could kill! So don't point or shoot at anyone or thing you do not intend to hit! That goes espically for using animals as target practice! Some poor squirrel is just like you going out to find your favorite food and then some giant person decides to shoot you. Now that squirrel is going to be in pain for months and sometime you will ruin its life! For what? Because you needed a target? It is wrong, so don't do it unless you are hunting legally! The only exception to this is if you are playing Paintball and have all the proper safety equipment. Yes paintballs hurt, break skin and bruse even with the right safety equipment and without googles yes you can shoot someones eye out!!
Always know what is behind your target! A good example of a bad idea is a fly lands on your kitchen window! Should you use your slingshot to shoot the fly? That all depends if you like having a window? Other things that can hurt you is shooting at the wrong animal like a bear that could chase you down and kill you or shoot at wasps or hornets nests unless you like getting stung and possably dying from a very painfull death!
Moral of the story is: Don't play Stupid Games if you don't want to win Stupid Prises! If you want to hit that hornets nest I wish you sucess in that goal but don't come crying when you win that stupid prise! This is not just a rule for slingshots but life in general!
Warrnings
The Extended Fork Slingshots are welded so do not bend the forks in and out if you dont want to break the weld! It is thin aluminum that is very dificult to weld so be careful!
Slingshot Band Selection and Attachment
We (Me and my Father) make these slingshots out of 1/4" or 6.35 mm aluminum round stock with a attachment groove that allow for just about any catapult band to be attached. It accepts round tubes from just about any tube manufacture such as Daisy, Marksman or Barnet that are avialble in most sporting goods stores but are hard to pull back and shoot slow, flat bands that most pros and expereanced shooters like and if you are on a really tight budget you can use rubberbands with a homemade pouch. Use your Mad Scientest skills to see what you can make work! Slingshots are more then just a toy. They are a lesson in phisics and engineering!
Band Attachment
The main point of attachement is the groove that you can either tie of with string or fishing line or just use zip ties that are avaliable at any hardware store. I like zip ties becuse they are easy to find, cheap and work great! When that zip lie locks into the groove on a flat band it tightens the harder you pull like Chinese handcuffs
Band Selection
Band selection is all about matching the right bands to the ammo. You want the bands to have enough power and snap to match your ammo.
In general the surgical tubing they sell for most commercial slingshots is hard to pull back, shoots slow and most ammo is way to light for them.
The fastest bands that are also much easier to pull back are 100% laytex flat bands cut out of rolls or sheets. Mark from ATO Slingshots has a really good video on cutting your own bands below. It's like easy fly tying for slingshots!
How to Remove and Replace the Handle
The wooden handle can be replaced with other handles and if you have wood working skills you can make your own handles out of your favorite wood or maybe you prefer grip tape like from a hockey stick, baseball bat or a golf club. You have options to customise your GI Joe Kung Fu grip!!
To remove the handle remove the rubber band trimming and for the Standard Slingshot handle just slide it up.
The Extended For versions need to remove the rubber band trimming by streatching it out of each side of the fork. The slightly bend the bottom of the frame and slide the handle out. To put it in just slide it in and add back the rubber trim by stretching over each fork.
